amit: one will keep getting a maximum of Rs. 500 cash back on HDFC Value Plus Card. It's not that you get this total in one transaction only. Irrespective of the amount of transaction you will either get 5% or Rs. 500 whichever is maximum for that Card in a month. Is it clear now?
